Difference between Fear and Respect

Fear and respect are both feelings very common to human nature. Fear is a state of nervous breakdown. Respect is a form of feeling or emotion in which one individual admires another.
Defining the difference between the terms fear and respect may seem to be a very tacky point but it makes complete sense when the onset is fearing the audience and respecting the audience. The difference between fear and respect lies in the fact that presenter should never fear the audience and should always respect the audience while giving an presentation.
In a presentation, the main goal or the main objective is getting the message to the audience. If presenter fears the audience then no matter how good the content is or how interesting the topic is, message cannot be conveyed properly. Similarly, for an effective presentation the presenter should respect the views and opinions of the audience and should avoid contents that may offend the audience.
The consequences of being afraid of the audience and respecting the audience are completely indifferent to each other. During a presenter if a presenter gets afraid then it may cause a nervous breakdown, which may lead to physical change like shaking of body, stammering and lead to a bad presentation. However, showing respect to the audience will not give super powers to the presenter. Nevertheless, it will definitely help bring positive change in the view of the audience in terms of the presenter and the presentation. Therefore, the difference between fear and respect lies in the fact that presenter should never fear the audience and should always respect the audience while giving a presentation.

Difference caused by Confidence and arrogance

Confidence and arrogance are both traits of human beings. Both the traits are similar in many ways but their existence in one's behavior makes completely different effects in their lives. There is a thin line between confidence and arrogance. Confidence is something that makes a personality glow and helps creating better lives whereas arrogance dims the personality and leads to a bitter life. Confidence and arrogance are both very important factor that defines the personality. If a person believes that he can achieve a task or a goal then this belief is confidence. However, if the person believes that he and only he can achieve that task/goal then this over-confidence is arrogance. The reason arrogance is unhealthy for anyone is because it causes lack of discipline and results in lack of devotion to a work. In the story of the turtle and the hare, due to arrogance the hare loses discipline and devotion and henceforth loses the race. Confidence and arrogance are both very important factor that defines the personality. This story is a reminder of how arrogance can be a hindrance in the way of success.
Confidence is an important factor when it comes to presenting oneself through presentation. Confidence helps to reach out to the audience and helps to convey the message of the presentation. Whereas, arrogance may lead the presentation to be harsh and rude to the audience. It may also cause lack of discipline and respect to the audience. So, for a better presentation confidence is a must attribute and it is better for the success of the project not to be arrogant. As an IT personal one should rather be confident than arrogant.

Green IT

Green IT simply refers to the concept of saving energy and energy resources by controlling the energy consumption, where possible i.e. home or office. It does not necessarily mean replacing the existing equipment but managing the equipment such that energy is saved. For instance the present equipment can be completely turned off when not in use and hence save energy. It also includes using simple calculation to display energy saved by power management. The amount of energy saved can easily be calculated by just taking the meter reading. But for more efficient and accurate reading of power management high-tech gadgetry can also be used. The concept of going green can also go beyond just saving energy. It can also include recycling of redundant equipment responsibly. But recycling equipment is not possible in day to day basis and is a rather more complex matter. However, a person doesn't need to be an expert of power management to save energy in a daily basis. Even with a little effort like switching the equipment to the plug, huge amount energy can be saved. Green IT is a very important issue and everyone should be devoted to control energy wastage and save energy.
Even a small change can make a big difference.
My Energy Consumption

The above calculator can be used for calculating the energy consumption and to find out how much energy has been wasted while the equipment is plugged in 'sleep-mode' or 'off-mode'. It automatically calculates how much energy has been spent and the amount of energy that can be saved with just a little effort. Such kind of calculator helps to manage and control wastage of energy.
The concept of green IT is very essential for the good health of the environment and for effective cost management. Even through small efforts positive changes can be achieved in terms of power consumption and carbon emission.

Report of Week 1

The first week of the second semester has started and the feeling of being back is pretty exhilarating in itself but to be honest I wouldn’t have minded a few more days off.
This semester includes a module ‘Personal Development for Computing’ which specializes to further develop our personality as computer students and also as general human beings. I think this subject will spice up this semester and add diversity to the course of study due to its uniqueness in course material.
The first lecture was basically about the introductory part on what we will be doing and trying to achieve for the rest of semester for this particular subject.
In the tutorial, we were given an exciting task to discuss, what abilities a graduate should have to develop better applications and programs. The points given had to be analyzed and the one we thought important had to be presented in front of the class in our workshop.
Going through the 17 points put forth for discussion, I felt that the ability to demonstrate computational thinking and its relevance to everyday life, including redundancy and the diversity for developing safe and critical system is a must for a graduate.
In the past decade alone electronic technologies have come a long way, in the form of tablets and smart phones. These advanced technologies have been able to change the everyday lives of millions of people around the world. So, a graduate must be able to develop applications as per the needs and demands avoiding redundancy and creating diversity and uniqueness.
In the lab session, few students had the opportunity to discuss the point they thought were important and showcase their thoughts and opinions on the particular matter. I did not get my chance to go forward on this occasion but I am looking forward for to the day I will it.
The presentations given were all quite good. It seemed everyone had done their homework and practiced on the topic they had chosen. However I did feel some examples given were a bit irrelevant as they were pretty far-fetched.If I was given the opportunity I would have been more precise on the way I presented
To summarize, first week of this second semester has been pretty awesome.
